Face to Face or Face to Screen?
What is your preference- face to face or face to computer screen? Are face to face meetings destined to become extinct? With more and more meetings held on online platforms, how important are face to face meetings or training sessions?

As I’ve been consistently developing online training, it’s a wonderful feeling to create courses that can be accessed at any time and any place around the world. However, one of the trends I am observing from users of my programs is that many start but fewer finish. Depending on the emphasis of the online program, there is really nothing that fully replaces face to face contact for personal engagement and accountability.
Engagement and Accountability
Engagement and accountability are actually the reason I am launching Hero Mountain™ weekend for professional women. Women, especially in their 40’s and early 50’s, are facing many life changes. Raising three sons while working in a very volatile business as music where the bottom could drop out suddenly, I’ve definitely experienced the sensation of being in a holding pattern many times.
There was also the unforgettable time of standing in a corner, desperate, when the theatre was red-tagged where I was launching a major world premiere of one of my original musicals. I felt trapped, stuck, and confused. It was because I had some wonderful young actors around me, willing to put the show on in the street that a smile returned to my face with renewed hope.
Halftime

At halftime, many relationships change for both women and men. Couples and partners that have stayed together, whether or not raising a family, suddenly find themselves pulling in different directions with varied interests and objectives. What started as a life partnership now splits for a restart because of an insurmountable chasm . The definition of career may even change. The juggling act of maintaining a job while raising a family now allows for a career to take a front seat. Or there is desire for a complete changeover to now work in a personal field of dreams.
Creating Momentum
The energy and push it takes to create momentum at halftime is laced with the challenges of self-doubt, expectations and even fear. The advantage of face to face contact gives renewed hope and vision, just as those young actors gave me during my musical TSARINA. When actors are on a stage interacting with each other, they are able to create a scene and tell a story. When you are able to sit in a small group working on your personal story, guided with skilled direction, you can experience that renewed hope by pulling together.
Online platforms are only going to increase in number in future years. With the amount of uploaded video, many so called experts touting various programs and increased technological resources, it would seem as if meeting face to face would become less important. I believe the opposite is true. Investment in not only resources, but TIME to create and regain momentum in your life is well-worth it. You can read book after book on self-help, but without personalizing and applying the information, there will be no lasting change.
Take Time Out for You
The red tagged theatre story had a happy ending. The fire department came and opened up the theatre so we could hold our closing weekend performances, get a professional video and obtain a wonderful review from a major source. We lost a few audience members who had left, but the free popcorn I furnished all attendees and holding an impromptu time of questions on production seemed to add to the festivity, as we had a late opening curtain.
Not all stories have a happy ending. But I hope if you are the one standing in the corner, possibly desperate, a bit confused and feeling stuck, that you will take time out for YOU. Take time for face to face contact with a trusted group that can help you create an updated script for you life. Give yourself the time and a place to gather momentum to climb your own Hero Mountain™.
