You’ve Got Spam!
Have you been spammed with an overflowing inbox? You find yourself easily influenced, stretching the truth, unsatisfied with misplaced priorities. Now you need recovery. Realize you can waste plenty of time on unsolicited messages, many which capture and monopolize your attention.
You receive hundreds of messages at the same time about chocolate. Now you can’t stop thinking about chocolate and you’re on a diet.
Visions of Chocolate
You begin putting chocolate sprinkles in your oatmeal along with the blueberries, thinking no one will notice. When shopping for fruit, you imagine each piece with a chocolate coating. You’re thinking there has to be a chocolate diet out there somewhere. And if not, you’re ready to start one. You’re even visualizing your first chocolate cookbook, with international distribution.

The chocolate you put in your freezer last week has disappeared. You are thinking someone took it. Then your husband reminds you of your recent sleepwalking episode where you came back to bed with chocolate all over your face.
You buy sugar-free chocolate and tell yourself it has no calories. You are mildly disappointed when finding out that indeed it does and you’ve gained 5 pounds. (in the past week!)
Some Solutions
Realize you’ve not always been on a diet your whole life. In fact, don’t think about a diet. Start focusing on a healthy mindset of lifestyle eating instead of dieting. To to this, you need to plan. Living life is all about revising plans on the fly. You might as well be mentally prepared for spam as it’s not going away any time in the near future!
All those messages you’ve been receiving are unsolicited spam. They’re meant to distract you. Tell yourself you can have chocolate, but in moderation. Now define moderation. Note: Moderation is not eating the entire 10 lb. bag of chocolate you just bought at Costco! Focus on what you CAN eat. Eating a colorful variety of fruits every day does not include sugary and fruity candy snacks. Realize sugar free does not mean calorie free. Say this over and over again to create a good habit…sugar free does not mean calorie free…
Remember, this spam-chocolate principle applies to what you do in LIFE. If you are overwhelmed on all sides, decide what you CAN and WANT to do with your life. Focus on the major instead of minor activities. As you create good habits, you’ll create great mental attitudes with healthy mental code.
In closing, go ahead and eat dark chocolate. It actually has more antioxidants than fruit. In fact, now you can leave the blueberries out of your oatmeal. Just add the dark chocolate and feel good about it.
Overwhelmed?
Define where you are, quit fighting, get upright, take small steps, be deliberate, reflect and develop relationships. These are all great survival techniques when you are feeling overwhelmed!
