Feel ike it's been too long since you've played?

It's NEVER too late to start again! You'll be amazed at how fast you'll pick things back up!

Facing brain fog?

Music is proven to help keep the mind sharp, or at least stave off symptoms of Alzheimers & Dementia in some cases!

Facing stress of a shutdown or isolation?

Music provides a wonderful diversion and many studies have proven it's power to reduce stress!

Think you could never start an instrument at your age?

Think again! You can keep a portable electronic keyboard in your closet and use earphones. Do this for you and for FUN!

Don’t worry about how things sound to others, especially when you are getting going again. Enjoy the sound for YOURSELF! Also, move at your own pace. I give step-by-step instructions in all my programs and the beauty of having video instruction is that you can go over each section again and again if needed. All of the principles and lessons provided in all my music courses are good for playing on either an electronic keyboard or an acoustic piano. I have a free download on the differences of each and what to look for if you need to get an instrument, so make sure you get it. The three videos in this mini course are on hand position, basic notes on the keyboard and on the written page and 5-note scales and major chords. I never assume you know all of this, and even though my programs are geared to the intermediate, I make sure all the basics are covered. You can always fast forward, but if you have huge gaps in your technique, that will prove to be more difficult later on. So I hope you enjoy this little course.

If you have played piano before and have not played in a long while, this short video course will help jump-start your ability to play again! You probably know or remember more than you think you do! This course is also good for beginners to check out some of the very basics and find out more of what's included in the Keys to the Keyboard online course.

What an excellent class! We are using it with our homeschool this year and my children enjoy Deborah's engaging videos. The content has been easy to understand and laid out in a way that makes them eager to work on each day. The manual provides a handy chart to check off their daily practice assignments which makes it easy for me to keep track of where they are and reward them for progress made. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to get started with piano!

I sang this song at my mothers funeral. Also it was the first song I sang as a solo in church when I was a young boy! The arrangement is beautiful. The instructor does a wonderful presentation of the songs history and the study materials. I give “In the Garden” a five star rating!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have no experience?

Our Keys to the Keyboard is the course that will take you from the very beginning where you don't need any previous experience or to even know your note names.. Our other online courses are more at the Intermediate Level. You will be guided through all steps you need to know to be successful!

How much should I practice?

Consistent practice is most important. Even 10-15 minutes 5x a week will bring great success.

Am I too old? I've always wanted to play, but am now an older adult!

You are really never too old! You have to decide to take your time and enjoy the process. Music is great for the mind and your spirit. It's also just plain fun!

What kind of piano or keyboard do I have to have and will it be expensive?

Of course, an acoustic piano is always optimal, but even a small electronic seld-contained keyboard (that doesn't need a speaker) will work! They are portable and you can store them in a side closet. Make sure you also purchase a stand (they are very reasonable) and have a comfortable seat. For less than $150 (U.S.) you will have all you need to get started! I don't want anyone to hear me play. What should I do?

With any electronic keyboard, there should be a place to plug in earphones. With earphones, you can happily practice, whether day or night, not disturbing anyone!

I'm a music major and struggle with piano proficiency. Will this help me?

Definitely! I'd start working with Keys to the Keyboard right away! It will help you with music theory as well as your piano proficiency!
