Victim of Ransomware

Ransomware can manifest itself both virtually and mentally. If you have a victim mentality, you’re confused, feel violated and have a lack of safeguards that will protect you, you’re most likely a victim of ransomware! All your files are locked and you can’t access any of your records. You try rebooting ten times in a row with the large restart button. It does no good.

Suspicious Email

You receive an email demanding ransom money for all of your files. There are several misspelled words in the message and you are concerned it is not from your home country. You wonder if you’re a victim of a foreign cyber-attack. You immediately contact the authorities. They say there’s nothing they can do.

You’re ready to pay the ransom request. It seems like a small amount for retrieving your precious files. You decide you’re now a victim and you’re extremely confused and depressed. You start telling everyone how bad your life is multiple times, elaborating on what happened to you. You wonder why some of your friends are now starting to avoid you. You even start believing your own exaggerated bad luck!

Victim Mentality

Some Solutions: Back up all your files, often. Keep a separate hard drive with your backup files in a safe place. Be careful of taking on the victim mentality. It will destroy you quicker than a cyber ransom attack. Be vigilant about changing passwords and protecting your information.

Don’t bore your friends with news of all your bad luck. They have plenty of bad luck on their own. Be vigilant and protect your files by not clicking on any strange links. Say this over and over again: I am not a victim! I am not a victim!

Feel Like Quitting?

How often have you felt like quitting? Couple times a year, once a month, every couple weeks or even every couple hours? It’s a very common feeling when you feel like you’re constantly pushing a boxcar uphill. It’s heavy, you’re tired and you don’t think the tracks are working correctly!

A couple things I do: (because I also have those thoughts from time to time!) I step back and evaluate my full situation. I try to honestly see what IS working. I also don’t hesitate getting input from trusted sources. Notice I said trusted sources. There are so many who will give you advice on what worked for THEM. You need to evaluate what will work for YOU! Take the time to just BE for awhile and if you haven’t read last weeks’ post, it’s here: 90 Day Challenge. Don’t let any sort of ransomware, including discouragement and feeling like quitting, take over your thoughts and goals! You are not a victim–I believe you are special and just need to step back, evaluate and charge forward!
